I love that you're using NaNoWriMo for that! My hope (!!) is to be done this draft completely by end of this month and then take some time before one last pass through and maybe use those few weeks in Nov to work on the project I did last NaNoWriMo, which is essentially 50k words of mess and potential. I always love the camaraderie that time of year.
As a developmental editor, I really wish more aspiring authors would read your Substack. Having been through the process with literally hundreds of writers, I know that writing a saleable, publishable novel or memoir is difficult and time-consuming. But the work is so worth it, and the great book you end up with will be yours forever.
Sometimes you can just feel it in your soul when a book should be your debut. Keep going, you'll get there!
