Coffee Grinds: 06
pumpkin spice lattes in August, Cheesecake Factory, things I bought, and a new adventure!
What better way to kick off Friday than with a little Coffee Grinds? If you missed the memo, it’s officially PSL season in this house and I’ll make no apologies for it!
P.s. I’m trading out my usual publish day of Sundays to Fridays at least for this week. Let’s see how it goes!
What I watched
Your Honor (ft Bryan Cranston. You’re welcome)
Simone Biles: Rising which inspired….
Still gotta watch that Dirty Pop doc on Netflix. I heard they use an AI generated Lou Reed??? What??
Backstreet Boys or N*Sync by the way?
What I read
This great Cheesecake Factory Twitter rabbit hole that I haven’t revisited in years —I highly recommend actually reading the Twitter thread that’s linked and not just the article.
I am NEARLY done this. Like, less than 1/4 of the way. So close! Can’t wait to write more on this.

(I’m not sure anyone cares but I’ve thought of doing one like this for the music industry. If not for Substack, then maybe my PR company’s socials?)What I wrote:
To All The Friends I’ve Loved Before: I’ve been working on a new To All The Friends I’ve Loved Before that’s been really plaguing me. It came pouring out of me at first, scrappy and poorly written, but with so much heart I thought the thing would write itself. It’s only in the light of day that I realized it needs a lot of work. This one feels important, so I’m taking my time with it. Sorry for the delay, but I hope to have a new one soon!
My novel: Things are chugging along with novel progress, and just as I tend to do every single week, I dove in and thought, “This part of the book is way more polished; edits shouldn’t be that bad.” Guess what? It’s not, and they are.
But I’m more than halfway through now and I really can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve actually zoomed through a ton of edits this week and am feeling good about it. I’ve had to cut quite a lot of chapters as the book changes and the word count keeps going up, but I love the shape its taking. Even if I did have to kill my darlings a bit.
What I bought:
Train tickets to NYC to meet up with a writing friend IRL. We met through
’s Beta Reader match up and have been workshopping each other’s stories for a few months. It’ll be so cool to meet in person!Clothes! I’m not someone who buys clothes very often, but when I do I like to get it over with, preferably at one store, and be done for at least 6 months. It’s a little late in the season to be buying Summer clothes but, it’s also a very me thing to do. Here's what I grabbed.
This crop top from Gap. I’ve never in my adult life worn crop tops, but I guess this is the season I try! I hope I like them, because I also got these in a few colors.
This off-the-shoulder shirt from Old Navy (which is also Gap??) —I love off-the-shoulder. I love collarbones. Count me in. I only wish they’d also had the black one in my size.
And guess what?! That shirt will go great with these black denim shorts! Can you believe I didn’t have a pair? I know everyone is really into linen shorts but they just don’t work on my body. I have long legs, and somehow, even with wedges, the linen just makes them look short and undefined. Jean shorts forever!
I very much wanted this romper from Free People, but when I finally went to check out it was gone. So, sadly I did NOT buy this one. Let this be your sign if something is sitting in your cart, to buy it. Cute rompers will not wait for you forever. Or even thirty mintues.
So, I settled for this not really at all similar romper, also from Gap or Old Navy, and next time, maybe I won’t wait so long to pull the trigger on a $20 outfit I love. (RIP Free People Romper)
That’s it for this week! I hope you have a glorious weekend filled with lots of sunbathing, ice cream, and time to read or binge watch or whatever it is you feel like doing. <3
xo,
Angela
I'm LOVING your To All The Friends series – I've written a little about the pain of friendships recently, but your essays are something else! They hit so deeply.
