Every year for our wedding anniversary, we hide ourselves away in a little oasis in the middle of Vermont. Just North of Woodstock is a little town that boasts winding country roads, tree house cabins, and snow-covered everything from late November through early March. It is, in a word, Heaven.

We play puzzles by day, write, and relax in claw-foot tubs. We drink champagne by the bottle and calories simply do not count as we take from the never-ending snack basket room service supplies us, countering these moments with long, meandering walks around the woods, snowshoeing or perhaps, some fat tire biking.

At night, we retreat to the fireplace for s’mores and (more) champagne, a tasting menu fit for a queen, wine pairings, and dessert I will miss long after it’s gone. We spill secrets and toast to us, to this, to our life. Share pieces of ourselves that, even after three years of marriage, are still new. We revisit well-worn topics with the kind of excitement made for first dates and we watch the other couples and make up stories about their lives. We laugh. We cheers. We love every moment.
This is Vermont.
